Sabbat-Millennium en Drievoudige Tijdperkstructuur

Jones beschrijft een drievoudige tijdstructuur die uitmondt in het Sabbat-Millennium als eschatologisch hoogtepunt:

“Wij staan vandaag op de drempel van het Loofhuttentijdperk. Het Paschatijdperk begon met Israëls Uittocht uit Egypte op de dag van Pascha en eindigde aan het Kruis. Het Pinkstertijdperk begon in het 2e hoofdstuk van Handelingen en eindigde 40 Jubileeën later op de dag van Pinksteren, 30 mei 1993. Wij zijn nu in de overgang naar het grote Loofhuttentijdperk, dat duizend jaar zal duren. Het is het grote Rustjaar, het Sabbat-Millennium.”1 (Secrets of Time, Voorwoord, dr. Stephen E. Jones, 17 april 1996)

Interpretatie: Jones positioneert zijn millenniumvisie als premillennieel, maar gefundeerd in de feestendagen van Israël, niet in futuristisch dispensationalisme. Zijn Sabbat-Millennium is de Loofhuttenstijd, geen aparte dispensationele periode.

Over het einde van de Pinksterijdperk:

“Het Pinkstertijdperk duurde 40 Jubileeën (1960 jaar), en strekte zich uit van 33 n.Chr. tot 1993 n.Chr. Aan het einde van die tijd traden wij in de overgang naar het Loofhuttentijdperk.”2 (Secrets of Time, hfst. 11)

“Er is nog een andere uitstorting van de Geest die voor ons resteert aan het einde van het Pinkstertijdperk. Zij wordt geopenbaard door de derde feestdag van Israël, het Loofhuttenfeest. Zij die in het Oude Testament onder Mozes leefden, waren niet in staat de Vruchten van het Koninkrijk voort te brengen onder de zalving van Pascha… Evenzo zijn wij in het Pinkstertijdperk niet in staat geweest de Vruchten van het Koninkrijk voort te brengen onder onze Pinksterzalving. Hoe goed deze ook is, zij is niet voldoende om ons tot Volmaaktheid te brengen, omdat het een gezuurd feest is.”3 (Secrets of Time, hfst. 11)

Profetische Tijdlijn: 120 Jubileeën

Jones verbindt de Noachische Vloed met een grotere profetische cyclus van 120 Jubileeën:

“De Vloed van water vond plaats na 120 jaar; de Vloed van de Geest vindt plaats na 120 Jubileeën.”4 (Secrets of Time, hfst. 3)

“Het jaar 1986 is het 120ste Jubileum vanaf Adam; maar 1993 was het 40ste Jubileum van de Kerk. […] God heeft deze discrepantie zo gepland om de volheid van de Geest te vertragen, zodat zij niet vóór de tijd zou komen.”5 (Secrets of Time, hfst. 3)

Over Mozes als profetisch type van de 120 Jubileeën:

“Het leven van Mozes is in feite een van de meest diepgaande en treffende profetieën van de 120 Jubileeën van geschiedenis tot 1986 n.Chr. […] Mozes leefde door drie afzonderlijke fasen in zijn leven, elk van 40 jaar. Ten slotte stierf hij op de leeftijd van 120 jaar.”6 (Secrets of Time, hfst. 3)

“Zoals Mozes ‘de gemeente in de woestijn’ (Hand. 7:38) leidde gedurende 40 jaar, zo leidde Jezus eveneens de Nieuwtestamentische Kerk de woestijn in voor een periode van 40 Jubileeën. Zo zal ook in onze dagen, na 40 verdere Jubileeën, Jezus (wiens Hebreeuwse naam Jozua is) ons leiden naar de grotere belofte van het erfdeel dat Adam in het begin verloor.”7 (Secrets of Time, hfst. 3)

Over de Opstanding na twee dagen (Hos. 6:2):

“Hosea 6:2 wijst erop dat de opstanding zou plaatsvinden ‘na twee dagen,’ dat wil zeggen, na 2.000 jaar.”8 (Secrets of Time, hfst. 3)

Sleuteldatum 1999:

“Met andere woorden, deze gebeurtenis kon niet plaatsvinden vóór september 1999 n.Chr., wat 2.000 jaar na Jezus’ geboorte was. Andere tijdcycli sluiten pas af in het jaar 2006 n.Chr.”9 (Secrets of Time, hfst. 3)

Loofhuttenfeest als Eschatologisch Hoogtepunt: De Derde Duif

Jones beschrijft het Loofhuttenfeest typologisch aan de hand van de drie duiven die Noach uitzond:

“Ten slotte correleert het Loofhuttenfeest met Noachs derde duif. Het is de laatste zalving, want zij vertegenwoordigt de volheid van de Geest die uitgestort wordt, waarin wij de verlossing van het lichaam zien (Rom. 8:23). Bij deze uitstorting ontvangt u het ware erfdeel dat in Adam verloren ging: het verheerlijkte lichaam.”10 (Secrets of Time, hfst. 3)

“God verkoos die klederen in de hemel te bewaren, zegt Paulus, totdat het Loofhuttenfeest vervuld is. De Geest is Gods onderpand totdat Loofhutten vervuld is.”11 (Secrets of Time, hfst. 3)

Over de geboorte van het Mannelijk Kind (Mans-kind) als eschatologisch doel:

“De aarde is nu wettig in aanmerking om een derde keer bevrucht te worden — en deze keer zal de aarde het Manskind voortbrengen, het corporatieve lichaam van de Zonen Gods die geestelijk volmaakt zijn en in het volle beeld en gelijkenis van God.”12 (Secrets of Time, hfst. 3)

“Nu is het tijd voor de geboorte van het Manskind — de Zoon die werkelijk in de volle gelijkenis en het beeld van Christus is.”13 (Secrets of Time, hfst. 3)

Over verheerlijking als Loofhuttenfeest-ervaring:

“Wij komen nu tot het Loofhuttentijdperk, wanneer de heerlijkheid die de onze zal zijn nooit zal vergaan. Dit is een transfiguratie-ervaring, want wanneer wij Zijn aangezicht zien, zullen wij Hem gelijk zijn (1 Joh. 3:2). Wij zullen zelfs zijn als Mozes toen hij de berg afdaalde met zijn aangezicht stralend van de tegenwoordigheid van God (Ex. 34:29).”14 (Secrets of Time, hfst. 15)

Over de “ware Israëlieten” in de Loofhuttenstijd:

“er zijn geen ware Israëlieten op het moment van dit schrijven, want een ware Israëliet is iemand die een nieuw onsterfelijk lichaam (Tabernakel) heeft, dat Christus openbaart in de vervulling van het Loofhuttenfeest.”15 (Secrets of Time, hfst. 15)

Jakobs Benauwdheid: Patroon en Nationale Toepassing

Jones analyseert Jer. 30:6-9 als structuurgevend patroon:

“Wee! Want die dag is groot, er is er geen aan gelijk; het is een tijd van benauwdheid voor Jakob, toch zal hij daaruit verlost worden. Want op die dag zal het geschieden, spreekt de HEERE van de legermachten, dat Ik zijn juk van uw nek zal breken en uw banden zal verscheuren. Vreemden zullen hem niet meer dienstbaar maken, maar zij zullen de HEERE, hun God, dienen, en hun koning David, Die Ik hun zal doen opstaan.”16 (Jones citeert Jer. 30:6-9, Secrets of Time, hfst. 14)

Over de twee persoonlijke benauwdheidstijdperken van Jakob (elk 21 jaar):

“Jakob had twee tijden van benauwdheid. Beide waren 21 jaar lang. Zijn eerste tijd van benauwdheid begon toen hij van Ezau vluchtte en naar Haran ging, waar hij voor zijn oom Laban werkte gedurende 20 jaar (Gen. 31:41).”17 (Secrets of Time, hfst. 14)

“Jakobs tweede tijd van benauwdheid begon toen Jozefs jaloerse broers hem als slaaf verkochten en hij naar Egypte werd gebracht. De broers wisten hun sporen uit… Jakob rouwde om zijn verloren zoon gedurende 21 jaar voordat God hen herenigde.”18 (Secrets of Time, hfst. 14)

Over de cyclus van 210 jaar (= 21 x 10) als nationaal patroon:

“Israëls eerste 210-jarige tijd van benauwdheid als corporatieve natie loopt direct parallel aan Jakobs 21-jarige tijd van benauwdheid. Aangezien wij hier te maken hebben met een tijd van benauwdheid op een hoger vervullingsniveau, is het tijdsbestek langer, maar het wordt nog steeds gekenmerkt door het getal 21.”19 (Secrets of Time, hfst. 14)

“Ten slotte, zoals wij zullen zien, werd het Huis van Israël in een lange, 2.520-jarige tijd van slavernij gebracht (12 x 210 jaar).”20 (Secrets of Time, hfst. 14)

“Wij zijn bijna 6.000 jaar van geschiedenis onderworpen geweest aan de dood en naderen nu het eerste van Schepping’s grote Rustjaren, wanneer de eerste grote Vrijlating zal worden afgekondigd, volgens de wet van Exodus 21:2.”21 (Secrets of Time, hfst. 14)

Jakobs Benauwdheid in Moderne Naties (Amerika en Brittannië)

Jones identificeert de westerse naties als typologische naties die Jakobs benauwdheid uitbeelden:

“Dit is dan ook waarom God Amerika en Brittannië koos om de tijd van Jakobs benauwdheid van 1776 tot 1986/96 opnieuw uit te beelden.”22 (Secrets of Time, hfst. 15)

“Het jaar 1986 was het einde van 13 perioden van 210 jaar.”23 (Secrets of Time, hfst. 15)

“Omdat God de klok in 1996 tien jaar terugdraaide, kan de tijd van Jakobs benauwdheid worden verlengd tot 2006, maar zelfs dan zijn de laatste 210-220-jarige patronen van de Bijbelse geschiedenis vrijwel ten einde gelopen.”24 (Secrets of Time, hfst. 15)

Over het typologisch karakter van de Europese naties als zonen van Jakob:

“In de grote gelijkenis van de naties zien wij de Europese naties als de zonen van Jakob. Brittannië staat aan het hoofd van die naties, geografisch afgebeeld als Jakob zelf. Hun vlag wordt zelfs de ‘Union Jack’ genoemd. Jack is een verkorte vorm voor Jacob.”25 (Secrets of Time, hfst. 15)

“Het land van Jozef zelf werd in deze gelijkenis twee naties, Canada en de Verenigde Staten, evenals Jozef twee zonen had, Efraïm en Manasse.”26 (Secrets of Time, hfst. 15)

Interpretatie: Jones’ Israel-identificatie is onderdeel van de Christian Identity-stroming. Dit is een controversieel theologisch standpunt; de citaten worden opgenomen als primaire bronmaterialen en weergeven de positie van de auteur, niet de positie van de redacteur.

Wederkomst als Jozef-Werk (Twee Werken van Christus)

Jones beschrijft twee werken van Christus als twee afzonderlijke komsten met verschillende doelen:

“Jezus kwam de eerste keer als de Leeuw uit de stam van Juda, om Zijn troonrechten als de Messias veilig te stellen. Hij komt de tweede keer tot de stammen van Jozef om Zijn eerstgeboorterecht veilig te stellen, dat Zijn Koninkrijk is.”27 (Secrets of Time, hfst. 14)

“Jezus’ tweede werk is een Jozef-werk. Hij komt om het eerstgeboorterecht van Jozef te ontvangen, wat een werk van Zoonschap is. Dat werk moet nog worden gedaan. Jozef is nog steeds ‘verloren.’ De Jakobieten geloven nog dat hij dood is. Maar er komt een dag waarop de wereld zal erkennen wat God zowel op politiek als op geestelijk niveau heeft gedaan.”28 (Secrets of Time, hfst. 15)

Over de twee werken als basis voor de eenherstel van Juda en Jozef (Ez. 37):

“De stokken van Juda en Jozef moeten herenigd worden in de hand van ‘David, Mijn Knecht’ (Ez. 37:24). Dit is een verwijzing niet naar David, maar naar Jezus, Die de ‘Zoon van David’ was (Matt. 1:1). Jezus is de Hersteller van de Bres. Hij kwam de eerste keer uit de geslachtslijn van Juda — specifiek uit de lijn van David — om voor Zichzelf Zijn troonrechten veilig te stellen. De tweede keer komt Hij om een Jozef-werk te doen, om Zijn eerstgeboorterecht (het Koninkrijk) veilig te stellen.”29 (Secrets of Time, hfst. 15)

“Daarom zegt Micha 5:2 dat Hij geboren zou worden in Bethlehem Efratha. Hij werd eerst geboren in Bethlehem; en Hij komt door Efraïm (meervoud van Efratha) de tweede keer.”30 (Secrets of Time, hfst. 15)

Over de voltooiing van het koninkrijk als doel van de wederkomst:

“Wanneer beide veiliggesteld zijn, worden de Koning en Zijn Koninkrijk herenigd, en kan het Manskind ter wereld worden gebracht.”31 (Secrets of Time, hfst. 14)

[SPANNING met eerdere bron] In b1 (Creation’s Jubilee) beschrijft Jones de wederkomst in termen van de Loofhuttenstijd en drie opstandingen. In b3 (Secrets of Time) wordt de wederkomst typologisch uitgewerkt als Jozef-werk: Christus komt terug voor het geboorterecht (het Koninkrijk), niet alleen voor het troonrecht (de Messias-lijn). Dit is een specifiekere en complexere wederkomstleer.

Opname-Kritiek

Jones verwerpt de populaire dispensationalistische opname-verwachting:

“Hij verwachtte dat de Joden en masse christenen zouden worden ten tijde van de ‘opname’ in 1988. Maar al deze dingen waren aannames die niet op bijbelse feiten waren gebaseerd. Om de moderne profetische vervulling te begrijpen, moeten wij teruggaan naar de Schriften en de historische wortels van de staat Israël traceren.”32 (Secrets of Time, hfst. 11)

“De christelijke wereld schaarde zich onmiddellijk achter die staat en verkondigde stoutmoedig dat de opname elk moment kon plaatsvinden, dat de verdrukking nabij was, en dat de Joden weldra allen tot Christus bekeerd zouden worden. Uiteraard heeft dit niet plaatsgevonden.”33 (Secrets of Time, hfst. 14)

Interpretatie: Jones verwerpt de pre-tribulatieopname-leer en koppelt dit aan een onjuiste identificatie van de Israëlische staat met het bijbelse Israël.

Tijden en Seizoenen — Openbaring van Timing

Jones verdedigt de mogelijkheid van profetische tijdkennis op grond van Deut. 29:29 en Amos 3:7:

“De meeste christenen is geleerd dat het niet mogelijk is iets te weten over tijden en seizoenen. Telkens wanneer er enige openbaring van timing is, zijn er altijd lieden die Jezus’ woorden in Handelingen 1:7 aanhalen, zeggende: ‘Het komt u niet toe de tijden of de gelegenheden te weten die de Vader in Zijn eigen macht gesteld heeft.’ […] Het vers vertelt ons echter alleen dat wij die dingen niet behoren te weten ‘die God in Zijn eigen macht heeft gesteld,’ die dingen die ons niet aangaan.”34 (Secrets of Time, bijlage C)

“Amos 3:7 (NASV) zegt ons: ‘Voorzeker, de Heere HEERE doet niets, tenzij Hij Zijn geheim openbaart aan Zijn knechten, de profeten.‘”35 (Secrets of Time, bijlage C)

Over de broeders die de tijden wél kennen (1 Tess. 5:1-4):

“Maar wat de tijden en de gelegenheden betreft, broeders, hebt u het niet nodig dat men u schrijft. Want u weet zelf zeer goed dat de dag van de Heere komt als een dief in de nacht. […] Maar u, broeders, bent niet in duisternis, zodat die dag u als een dief zou overvallen.”36 (Jones citeert 1 Tess. 5:1-4, Secrets of Time, bijlage C)

Over de mannen van Issaschar (1 Kr. 12:32):

“De chronologie vertelt ons dat David tot koning gekroond werd in het 59ste Jubileum vanaf Adam. Ik geloof dat de kinderen van Issaschar dit wisten, hetzij door goddelijke openbaring, hetzij door hun eigen studie van de chronologie. Zij zagen dat Saul tot koning was gekroond op de dag van Pinksteren, en nu zagen zij dat David tot koning gekroond moest worden op het Jubileum. Zij begrepen de tijden.”37 (Secrets of Time, bijlage C)

Nieuwe Schepping en Herstel van Alle Dingen

Jones verbindt de nieuwe schepping met het tweevoudige-getuigenismodel (Jes. 65:17-18):

“Want zie, Ik schep een nieuwe hemel en een nieuwe aarde; aan de vorige dingen zal niet meer gedacht worden, zij zullen niet meer opkomen in het hart. Maar wees vrolijk en verheug u tot in eeuwigheid in wat Ik schep.”38 (Jones citeert Jes. 65:17-18, Secrets of Time, bijlage C)

Over de vereiste van tweevoudig getuigenis voor de nieuwe schepping:

“wanneer vertegenwoordigers op aarde getuigenis afleggen aan het goddelijke Woord, en zij met één stem als één lichaam spreken, zeggende met hun ganse hart: ‘Amen! Groot en wonderbaarlijk zijn Uw werken, Heere God, de Almachtige!’ […] dan en alleen dan zal de nieuwe hemel en de nieuwe aarde haar ontwikkelingsproces beginnen, totdat God alles in allen vervult.”39 (Secrets of Time, bijlage C)

Over de herstel van de schepping via de Geestesuitstorting:

“Wanneer Hij de hele aarde tot leven wekt door opnieuw de adem des levens in hun neusgaten te blazen, worden wij in Onsterfelijkheid en Volmaaktheid gebracht, zoals in het begin. Eden en méér wordt hersteld.”40 (Secrets of Time, hfst. 3)

Over apokatastasis als universeel doel (1 Kor. 15:28):

“Hij is de Verenigster van alle volken, de Hersteller van de Bres, en de Hersteller van de gehele Schepping. De dag komt waarop Hij ‘alles in allen’ zal zijn (1 Kor. 15:28).”41 (Secrets of Time, hfst. 15)

“Mettertijd zullen de naties beginnen te worden omgevormd tot werkelijk christelijke naties, met Jezus als onze enige Koning en Zijn wet als onze enige wet en grondwet. Het Woord van het Koninkrijk zal uiteindelijk uitgaan als een getuigenis tot alle naties, hetgeen (na verloop van tijd) alle dingen onder Zijn voeten zal brengen.”42 (Secrets of Time, hfst. 15)

[SPANNING met eerdere bron] In b1 en b2 fundeert Jones de apokatastasis juridisch (Jubeljaarwet, Kinsman-Redeemer). In b3 fundeert hij dezelfde apokatastasis chronologisch (via de profetische tijdlijn van 120 Jubileeën) en typologisch (via Noach’s duiven en Loofhuttenfeest). Beide argumentatielijnen zijn complementair.

Over de Overwinnaars en het herstel van de scheur:

“Met de afkondiging van het Jubileum door de Overwinnaars in de herfst van 1996 begon de bres hersteld te worden.”43 (Secrets of Time, hfst. 15)
